Ocean recovery strategy to save the endangered coral reefs near McBean Lagoon in Providencia (Colombia). The project proposes the construction of artificial coral reefs that act as a barrier to catch ocean debris before it arrives at the real (and fragile) corals. This barrier consists of an experimental coral material (a synthesized mixture of calcium carbonate, the same base material as real coral), built around an internal structure made of recycled metallic waste. This construction ensures proper environmental compatibility and continuously repurposes the collected metallic waste as more artificial corals are manufactured.
